Deltona is an unusual, cosmopolitan city just 30 miles from Orlando, 20 miles from Daytona Beach and one hour from Disneyworld. The most appealing factor about Deltona is that it is a residential area rather than an industrial city. Its quiet country setting is large enough to attract important services such as banking, restaurants, hospitals and shopping yet zoned to preserve the cozy bedroom community feeling. Deltona is located far enough from the popular Florida attractions not to be affected by them on a daily basis and close enough to enjoy them when the mood strikes. Deltona is a mixed community with a very active senior population as well as a large population of growing families.      Deltona is a young city only just incorporated in 1997. There are seven elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high schools serving Deltona as well as three private schools. Recreational facilities include 6 golf courses including the Deltona Hills Golf & Country Club. This club includes a swimming pool, tennis courts, dining rooms, lounges, golf shop and locker rooms. Deltona contains many smaller lakes and is located on the shores of Lake Monroe which is part of the St. John's River. There is an excellent boat-launching ramp, flanked by seawalls which make this area outstanding for fishing, boating and water recreation. Twelve parks in Deltona feature playgrounds, fishing, baseball, soccer and shuffleboard. Many more parks are in the planning stages. A total of 473 acres has been set aside for recreational facilities.
